BWG Foods has announced that it is preparing to move its employee professional development initiative, BWG Academy, to an online training and education resource.

The BWG Academy, which was officially launched in 2019 just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, was designed to offer a wide range of self-development and support programs to the more than 23,000 employees of the retail through Spar, Eurospar, Londi, Mace and XL store networks.

Weeks after the official launch, Ireland quickly slipped into anti-virus restrictions and, as it became increasingly clear that the uncertainty surrounding the longevity of social distancing measures and even tighter restrictions were likely, the need to transform BWG Foods’ educational program was embraced, the retail group said.
