Srinagar- The Indian government’s Home Ministry said on Tuesday that there was no information available regarding district-by-district information on the employment rate in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a written response to a question from Congressman Benny Behanan, Minister of State MHA Nityanand Rai said information by district on the employment rate in Jammu and Kashmir is not available.
In addition to employment data, the Congressman had asked for details of new jobs created directly or indirectly in the public and private sectors since August 2019 as well as details of progress made towards the government’s goal of creating 25,000 jobs. by 2022; and whether the government is on track to meet the target and, if not, the reasons, including the revised timeline.
“Government of Jammu and Kashmir has made public sector recruitments as of 2019 totaling 29,806,” Rai said in the response, adding, “Additionally, it is estimated that the employment of 5.2 lakh people was created by self-employment schemes from August 2019 to June 2022.
