Nevis Premier Mark Brantley said the employment rate was rising on the island as there were now more people in employment than before. He said Nevis was gradually recovering from the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Official Social Security data through March 2022 shows that the number of employees in Nevis increased by 2.9% and the number of jobs increased by 4.9%. Premier Brantley said that over the same period, gross wages increased by 7.3% and wages per employee increased by 4.3%, while wages per job increased by 2.4%. %.
“Great news on the jobs front for Nevis. As we recover from the Covid19 pandemic, we are seeing some job growth on Nevis which is encouraging,” Brantley said.
He said Social Security does not account for all jobs because many self-employed and other people working in unregistered jobs are not accounted for, and the actual numbers could be much higher.
Brantley also shared a full report on his social media account, which showed progress in employment rates on Nevis.
Also, praising his administration, Brantley said Nevis is moving in the right direction. He also asked people to increase momentum ahead of the general election.
