NORKA in Kerala signs pact with German Federal Employment Agency

Thiruvananthapuram, December 2 (PTI): Kerala’s expatriate welfare agency NORKA and the German Federal Employment Agency on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding to provide employment opportunities for Malayalee nurses in Germany .

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the chances of recruiting in the healthcare sector of the European country have been opened thanks to NORKA’s relentless efforts to adapt to changes in the global environmental sector.

Entitled “Triple Win,” it is the first such government-wide recruitment drive in Germany from India, he said in a Facebook post.

“This is seen as the first step in exploiting the vast job opportunities available in other European countries,” Vijayan said.

Noting that there are a large number of vacant nursing positions in Germany after COVID, he said that more than 25 lakh vacancies are expected to be generated in the healthcare sector across the world. Observing that more than 8,500 nurses graduate in Kerala each year, the CM said the current program would help employers recruit the best possible candidates. German Consul General Achim Burkart has arrived in the state to sign the Memorandum of Understanding.
