TOM GIMBEL: CEOs have really become politicians. What they try to do is please everyone and when you try to do that you usually don’t please anyone. And so right now they’re in this huge intersection of what they think is best for the business, what they think is best for their employees, and trying to figure out where that fits.

And unfortunately, depending on where you are in the country, whether you’re in a red or blue state, what laws are in place, what phase these cities are in has really affected her the most.

Now, on the other hand, I actually think it’s great for capitalism and for business because now the playing field is level. Google has never experienced this nor the little one technology company with five employees. No one has experienced this. So as a leader you have to figure out how you want to attract people both internally and potential candidates and maybe clients and see how you are going to fare in the end.
