The employment rate hit a record high of 59.6% in February – English

(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 31 – The number of people with jobs in Italy increased by 81,000 in February compared to January and by 770,000 compared to the same month last year, ISTAT announced on Thursday .
The rise took Italy’s employment rate to 59.6%, the highest level on record, the national statistics agency said.
He said the increase was due to an increase in the number of people employed on temporary contracts, up from 133,000 in January and 504,000 in February 2021.
ISTAT said the number of people employed on permanent contracts fell by 109,000 month-on-month, but rose by 112,000 from February 2021.
The agency said the unemployment rate in February was 8.5%, down 0.1 percentage points in January and 1.7 points in February 2021.
He said 2.125 million people in Italy were looking for work in February, down from 30,000 in January and 375,000 from the same month last year.
ISTAT reported that the unemployment rate for 15-24 year olds active in the labor market fell to 24.2%, down 0.6 points from January and 8.4 points year-on-year. (ANSA).
